Ebertpark in Ludwigshafen on Rhine

After visiting the BUGA (German National Garden Show) 2023 in Mannheim, we also took the opportunity to take a look at the design of the Ebertpark in Ludwigshafen on Rhine. Harald Sauer has been responsible for this for many years, and his extensive plantings in the naturalistic style have helped this park to achieve a certain reputation among experts and enthusiasts. We were very excited, especially after we had the opportunity to admire Harald Sauer’s plantings at the BUGA.

The forest perennial plantings are definitely spectacular, unfortunately you hardly ever get to see something like that in public areas. Here are some pictures:

In the first picture at the top left of the picture you can see Harald Sauer himself. He was leading a group through the park during our visit. Later, we met another well-known garden designer in the park, Cassian Schmidt, who has shaped the famous Hermannshof Show and View Garden for over 25 years. He was just walking in the park with a group of students. As luck would have it, we met another well-known garden designer, Joachim Hegmann, later in the day. We bumped into him at the aforementioned Hermannshof, our next destination.
