Making the most of the last days of autumn

After a short first guest performance of the winter with snow down into the valleys, the weather shows its mild side again. So we can make good use of these days to get the garden ready for winter.

Tie up the younger shrubs, cover the roses and hydrangeas, cut back most of the perennials and tie up the grasses so that they can all survive the winter and the snow pressure well and give us much pleasure again next year.

The bound grasses in front of the garden shed are lovely to look at now in autumn.

In these last days of autumn we are also thinking about the coming spring and have planted over 300 bulbs all over the garden. Tulips, giant leeks, prairie lilies, snow pride and larkspur should really make spring shine in the garden next year.
