On the sunny side of the Salzburg alpine summer
Hiking is a fabulous pleasure in the Salzburger Sportwelt in Austria: More than 1,000 kilometres of marked hiking trails lead through the seven holiday resorts – including the Salzburger Almenweg. There are 19 certified alpine summer huts in our region and always the option to hike even further up: From the alpine pastures into the rocky terrain and up to the peaks.
Hiking in Wagrain-Kleinarl also means idyllic alpine meadows, a feeling of freedom and a fantastic view of the panorama of the surrounding peaks and valleys once you reach the top. Surrounded by an impressive mountain world, numerous hiking trails of various lengths and difficulty levels lead to the summits – on the way, nature lovers can stop for a snack at one of the wonderfully rustic alpine huts. What makes Wagrain-Kleinarl so special are the mountain lakes – from the emerald green Jägersee to the legendary Tappenkarsee.

COMFORTABLE HIKING WITH THE SALZBURGER SPORTWELT SUMMER LIFTS
In the Salzburger Sportwelt, with the 7 holiday resorts of Flachau, Wagrain-Kleinarl, St. Johann, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Eben and Filzmoos, numerous chairlifts and gondolas are in operation during the summer months. They transport hikers, families, bikers and day trippers comfortably to the summit and open up numerous hikes and tours. The Salzburger Sportwelt Card includes discounted use of the mountain lifts during your stay.
WE ARE A CERTIFIED HIKING REGION
The Salzburger Sportwelt and its 7 holiday resorts are members of the Austrian Hiking Villages, Austria’s largest hiking platform. In the meantime, 7 hiking trails, 3 hiking villages and 14 hiking hotels in the region have been certified with the Austrian Hiking Seal of Quality.
The Austrian Hiking Seal of Quality captures the ‘magic of walking’ in its entirety. The interaction of the village as a hiking starting point in nature, specialised hiking hosts and the trail, which captures the beauty of the landscape, are essential for the perfect hiking experience.
The assessment based on the catalogue of criteria clearly and comprehensibly demonstrates the potential. It goes far beyond an inventory: the result is much more a guide with concrete measures to maintain and improve quality.
